How It Works
An OTR (Off-the-Road) section repair involves meticulously removing damaged sections of a large tire, like a heavy-duty truck tire, and replacing them with new rubber plies, essentially "stitching" the tire back together using a specialized vulcanization process that applies high heat and pressure to securely bond the new material to the existing tire structure, allowing for continued use even after significant damage like deep cuts or sidewall tears; this repair typically requires specialized equipment and expertise to achieve a strong and durable repair.

Key points about OTR section Repair
Severe damage: This repair is used for the most significant tire damage, where cuts go through the tire's cords, affecting the sidewall, tread face, or shoulder area.
Grinding and beveling: The damaged area is first carefully ground or beveled to create a smooth surface for the new rubber to adhere to.
New ply application: New rubber plies are then applied to the inside of the cut, essentially creating a layer to reinforce the damaged section.
Vulcanization process: The repair is completed by using a high-heat vulcanizing process, which essentially "melts" the new rubber into the existing tire structure, creating a strong bond.
Specialized equipment: Performing an OTR section repair requires specialized tools like a tire press, heat pads, and specialized repair kits designed for large tires.
Expert technicians: Due to the complexity of the repair, qualified technicians with experience in OTR tire repair are essential.
Tire inspection: Before performing a section repair, a thorough inspection is necessary to assess the extent of the damage and determine if the tire can be safely repaired.
